Following the record-breaking close to ESOPATHON in October during Employee Ownership Month, the Employee Ownership Foundation has more exciting news to share. Thanks to your generous support over the years, the Foundation is now in a position to pay it forward and give back to our hardworking employee owners.
The Employee Ownership Foundation is creating the Trustee Scholars program to provide scholarships in support of post-secondary education for the children of employee owners who work at ESOPs that are corporate members of The ESOP Association.
Each year, the Foundation will award two scholarships of $5,000 each for college or trade school, which are renewable for up to four years. For a student pursuing a four-year degree, this would amount to $20,000 to help pay for education expenses. Scholarship winners will also be eligible for a paid internship in the Washington, DC headquarters of The ESOP Association.
“I’m excited about the EOF’s new scholarship program, aimed at helping defray the high cost of college education and trade schools for children of employee owners,” said Dave Fitz-Gerald, VP and CFO of Carris Reels and Chair of the Employee Ownership Foundation. “The Foundation’s mission is to increase employee ownership, and through the years we’ve funded important academic research and projects to let the world know about the benefits of employee ownership. What better advocates for employee ownership could there be than children of employee owners who have had a front row seat to those benefits. Whether they study employee ownership or not, whether they become employee-owners themselves after pursuing their education, the EOF Trustee Scholars program is designed to celebrate the life-changing impact that comes from being an employee owner. Not just on employee owners, but on their families. Not just in the present, but far off into the future. I’m thrilled to help get this program off the ground and look forward to our first group of applicants.”
The Trustee Scholars program application process will open soon, and scholarships will be awarded in the upcoming year for the fall 2024 academic semester. Information about the application process will be sent to all TEA corporate members and will be posted across the Foundation’s and TEA’s digital channels.
